ZIGGY ZIGGY

Vogue Paris 2011// British Vogue 2003// Vogue Germany 2012// Rookie Magazine 2012

On January 8th, David Bowie celebrated his 65th birthday and 2012 brought in the 40 year anniversary since the introduction of his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust. The fashion world took note of the major music purveyor with several editorials dedicated to him.

Vogue Paris made Kate Moss the cover girl, much like British Vogue in 2003 for their music issue. Daphne Guiness channelled Ziggy in Vogue Germany and Rookie Mag's Petra Collins' photospread styled by Bryanna Brown was an excellent dedication to Ziggy.

Setlist
  • Rebel Rebel
  • Starman
  • All the Young Dudes
  • Young Americans
  • Ziggy Stardust
  • Rock'n'Roll Suicide
  • Let's Spend the Night Together
  • Aladdin Sane

LANA DEL REY COVERS INTERVIEW

Lana Del Rey's album Born to Die is finally going to be released January 31st. She is also on the February cover of Interview Russia and looks absolutely stunning. I guess the bee on the lips cover photo is supposed to be a response to her bee-stung lips that are always topical in articles. Or maybe it's a reference to her honey voice.

FOLLOW THAT SOUND

"Primavera Circus" in Elle Spain Feb. 2012

Every year, music lovers pilgrammage to San Miguel for the Primavera Sound Festival. Equal parts celebration of the new spring season and emerging music talent, Primavera is a music festival destination on my list. In honor of one of Spain's most popular music celebrations, Elle Spain's February issue features a primavera inspired editorial to celebrate spring fashion... and items fit for the festival.

Artists I'm excited about performing at Primavera Sound 2012:
  • The Cure
  • Bjork
  • The Drums
  • The xx
  • Neon Indian
  • Franz Ferdinand
  • Beach House
Check out the full line-up.

CALIFORNIACATION

Season 5 of Californiacation premiered last week and Hank Moody is back in L.A.! The allure of the L.A. sunshine always spells trouble for Hank, but it seems everyone lately is flocking to L.A. for a vacation. The latest January Catalog for Free People is out, featuring a (rarely) smiling model frolicking the streets of L.A. in lovely summer threads. I'm quite excited to see which pieces make it into the Bay collection.

SETLIST
  • California - EMA
  • Wannabe in L.A.- Eagles of Death Metal
  • When I'm With You - Best Coast
  • Los Angeles, I'm Yours - The Decemberists
  • Drinking in L.A.- Bran Van 3000
  • L.A. Woman - The Doors
  • California Dreamin' - The Mamas and the Papas
  • California - Joni Mitchell
  • Angeles - Elliot Smith
  • Valley Girl - Frank Zappa

RUBBER SOUL

Photos from Daniel James Maid in London Catalogue 1985// Feb'12 Collection from Daniel James Website

Daniel James is synonymous with "latex couture." Absent from the fashion scene for many years, James returns February 2012 with a new collection that infuses colour to the latex designs once reserved for all black. The outfits look quite boring on mannequins; looking forward to the lookbook.

COACHELLA 2012

Coachella Line-up 2012 announced minutes ago. Thoughts? Many seemed underwhelmed. I've seen 25 of the bands listed live, but still yearning to see Pulp, Radiohead and The Black Keys.

CLUTCH

The first clutch is Alexander McQueen's gothic gold cut that I have desired for so long. The decorative finger clutch minimizes the need for any other jewellry. I recently came across lovely (and cheaper) altervatives at BCBG.
